Electronic Reprints Electronic "Reprints" are available for two groups : For Subscribers: The PDF File Subscribers to an Annual Reviews series have access to the reviews in that series in PDF (Portable Document Format)sometimes called an "electronic reprint." PDF files (which represent the article in its typeset form, just the way a printed reprint does) can be read online or downloaded for local reading and printing. Like photocopies of printed articles, PDFs involve copyright-holder permissions (see below). Annual Reviews authors receive complimentary subscriptions to the volumes for which they've written. Like all subscribers, authors must activate (see below) their subscriptions before accessing Annual Reviews online. With an activated subscription, authors and others can obtain chapter PDF files. PDFs and Pemissions Please honor copyright protections. Copyright considerations (and fair-use allowances) apply to the distribution and use of PDFs exactly as they do to photocopies of these reviews. Subscribers may not freely distribute the article PDF files to which their subscriptions provide access. We request that authors accompany each author ePrint distribution with a note to this effect: 'I am pleased to provide you complimentary access to my Annual Reviews article as a PDF file ([Author: place Author ePrint keyed URL here]), for your own personal use. Any further/multiple distribution, publication, or commercial usage of this copyrighted material would require a permission request addressed to the Annual Reviews Permissions Department, email permissions@annualreviews.org'. Emailing ePrint URLs: Line Break Information An author ePrint is actually a special keyed URL to an author's review. The author ePrint (a long string of numbers and characters) gives reprint requestors access to an author's review without the need of a subscription. Author ePrint URLs may be sent to reprint requestors via email, but please note: a Web URL can contain no blank spaces or line breaks (carriage returns). If the author ePrint URL you receive in email appears to be broken across two or more lines (as in the example below), the email programs involved have introduced a line break. Please "reconstruct" the URL by re-joining the two lines and removing any spaces. Then paste the resulting single line into your browser's "Location:" blank. EXAMPLE (here a line break has been introduced into the Author ePrint URL): http://arseries.annualreviews.org:/cgi/content/full/99/1/000?ijkey This ePrint URL won't work until the two halves are rejoined. Online Activation Instructions for Individuals If you have already activated online access to your most recent print subscription of an Annual Review, you need not re-activate.
