Submitting to Digital Repositories

If you are planning to submit your Annual Reviews article as a working paper to a digital repository such as SSRN or NBER before final publication, please include the following citation information:

“When citing this paper, please use the following: Smith AB, Jones CD. 2011. Title. Annu. Rev. Econ. 3: Submitted. DOI: XXX.XXX.XXX”

You will receive the assigned DOI for your article once it has been submitted to Annual Reviews. This information can be included in the subtitle on page one of your working paper PDF.

Submitting Your Paper to SSRN

National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER)

When submitting your working paper to NBER, include the citation information in Section B, “Title of Paper.”

By including the Annual Reviews DOI in your citation, you will ensure that researchers can find the final article of record at www.annualreviews.org. Linking to the final article of record is important for the following reasons:

  • Any changes made from the working paper version of your article will be captured in the final article of record published by Annual Reviews
  • Citations to the article of record will be counted in the Thomson Reuters Web of Science® and Journal Citation Reports©, leading to a more accurate impact factor calculation
